This is an exciting time to be at St. Joseph’s for many reasons. One of the most exciting is that our enrollment has grown significantly in the past few years.
This year it became necessary for us to split our kindergarteners into two classes in order to avoid crowding. This was important as we want every child to have the best school experience that we can possibly provide.
Our art and music programs have been moved into separate spaces allowing for better scheduling and will allow the teachers to not have to pick up all of their supplies at the end of each day in order to not infringe on each others ‘ space. They will also be able to make better use of display space.
Another thing that St. Joseph’s can be thankful for, and proud of, is that again St. Joseph students have done very well on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is a nationally normed battery of tests that measure student achievement in various academic areas. St. Joseph students traditionally have scored well on the tests. The test is a respected instrument and its results are considered to be very reliable (they measure what they are supposed to and students are compard to comparable students in other parts of the country).
Our school programs focus on the spiritual, academic, social and psychological well being of each of our students . Thanks to the Parish for its continued strong support of our school. We want everyone to know, through our daily efforts and activities, that Christ is the reason for our school. He is the unseen, but ever present teacher in all of our classrooms.
A little trivia about our school- well over half of the grown ups working in the school attended St. Joseph’s when they were children!
