THE PARISH LITURGY COMMISSION
GUIDING PRINCIPLE:
The firm belief that liturgy is “the summit towards which the activity of the Church is directed…and the fount from which all her power flows”(Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, #10).
Liturgy is the very core of why we form parish, the activity the parish engages in most often.

PURPOSE:
1) To assist the pastor and the parish in attaining the full, conscious and active
     participation
of all the faithful in parish liturgical and sacramental celebrations,
     seeking real ways to enage
the faithful in their call to holiness.

2) To see that the parish has good liturgy by…
            *understanding what is “good” liturgy
*observation and assessment of the liturgies & liturgical ministers
            *discussion of liturgical practices
*brainstorming ways to improve what needs attention
*deciding on specific steps to make those improvements.

3) To create and maintain appropriate liturgical education of
     the commission, the liturgical
ministers, and the entire parish.
*Each meeting would include an education component regarding liturgy
*Specific education/training sessions created for each ministry, with follow-up.

4) To coordinate and give direction to the planning of the liturgical seasons and
other liturgical events in the parish.
