This is a new and growing outreach effort, begun at St. Joseph Parish in the Spring of 2010.In this ministry, care and the love of knitting, crochet, quilting, and tying are combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace.Members pray and work at home on the craft of their choosing, and gather together once a month for sharing, prayer, and fellowship.Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month, as indicated in the Parish bulletin.New members are always welcome!
The second and vital part of this ministry is giving these to people at the time they need to feel wrapped in God’s love. For this, Your Help is needed!
A shawl/baby blanket/lap robe may be requested at any time when a friend or relative is undergoing medical procedures, illness and recovery, after a loss, during bereavement – whenever someone you know is in need of a physical reminder that they are wrapped in the arms of a loving God.
Requests for shawls may be directed to St. Joseph Parish Office. When you pick up a shawl or afghan, we will add an appropriate prayer and a carry bag and simply ask that you say a prayer as you wrap the shawl around the person in need.Baby afghans are currently given at the time of infant Baptism at St. Joseph Parish.
